Had a slice of carrot cake and my first ever cappuccino (that lil’ brown bottle contains the syrup for sweetening my cap) at Habitual in celebration of my Grandma’s 89th Birthday…Happy Birthday Shug!!! ~in Umalas, Bali – Indonesia~
So much to say… Everyone that I’ve encountered thus far has been absolutely gracious and accommodating. It started with my taxi driver from the airport, next was the woman that helped me locate the correct platform at the train station in Bologna, then onto the woman that I allowed to go in front of me on the train and when she realized I was struggling with my luggage she helped me lift it up the stairs and even wheeled it all the way down the car of the train to my seat (clear at the other end) before she vanished into then air (or so it seemed), after that it was the lady at the currency exchange that gave me a piece of paper allowing me to get the same rate (if not better when it improves) at other sites around town, then onto Ms. Andretti Jr. (the taxi driver that picked me up at the train station in Florence) whom had just gotten back from her vacation yesterday, and after that it was Carlo (the brother of the lady whom’s villa I’m staying at on the ground floor) who showed me how to operate everything in the flat that I’ll be staying at along with where to get dinner. Then it got even better when I walked 7 blocks to a little trattoria down the hill steps away from the Roman door in the heart of the historical center of Florence where I encountered my ever so handsome waiter – who just happens to have red hair (I have a thing for gingers, if you didn’t know) and after he seated me I looked across the room and spotted two siSTARs!!! Diana’s here on holiday from Oakland and Michelle lives and works in Portland, Oregon; which is just down the way from where I live back home…awe Italy I adore you already and I knew I would! Y’all those two glasses of house wine has me a bit tipsy, so I’m going to shower, make my bed and call it a night – given that it’s 12:07 am here. Catch you on the flip side! ~at Trattoria Ruggero in Firenze, Italy.

You know how I do…it’s my day off and I feel I deserve a little nutritional pampering, even though I try to do well by my body every day. This evening I’m treating myself to several sips of Kukchia tea, a bowl of Dahl soup, a bevy of veges fused together in what they’ve named the Dragon Bowl (an assortment of grated organic vegetables, pomelo, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, sizzled Tempe, served over a bed of buckwheat noodles aka soba with toasted sesame dressing and shredded nori), topped off with two slices of sourdough bread…pairing all of this with a good book and all seems ok in the world, if only for this blissful moment. ~ at Down to Earth Cafe in Oberoi, Bali – Indonesia~

Getting ready to bow my head to give thanks for tonight’s meal…The Green Mile (pesto sauce, marinated atrichokes, mushrooms & marinated feta) accompanied by Wild at Heart (mixed rucola, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella draped in a balsamic dressing) and of course I may as well finish off that bottle of SB. ~courtesy of Pizza Club on Jl. Raya Pantai Berawa in Canggu, Bali – Indonesia~
I’m literally glowing from head to toe…this meal and the food I’m about to purchase afterwards (in the other part of the cafe’s grocery store) is realigning my being! That massage & body scrub I treated myself to after picking up my first paycheck yesterday helped a little bit too! Thankful for my weekend, allowing me the time to be brave enough to drive around finding this place after two months, not knowing it was less than a 10 minute drive away…bliss in Bali! Popped in to a place that’s been on my list for some time now called Sugar Cane and I must say I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to marvel in their nutritionally balanced menu of featured culinary delights. Looking forward to returning and teasing my tastebuds with all they have to offer. Homemade fish tacos served atop wheat tortillas, vegan black beans, spring salad, cilantro, market fresh salsa, chunks of sharp cheddar cheese and cod seasoned with black pepper, turmeric, garlic, ginger and jerk seasoning.
The ingredients I used in tonights’ simple meal include; chives, sage, cilantro, ginger, garlic, tumeric, jerk seasonings, black pepper, raw coconut oil, and a few red pepper flakes…
Alright now! Lentils (soaked for two hours) cooked in 3 cups of water along with a vegetable bouillon cube and a dash of sea salt. In the saute pan I prepped my seasonings (tumeric, coriander, cayenne pepper, celery, dill, rosehips, basil, thyme, cumin, cloves, rosemary, paprika and cinnamon) in extra virgin olive oil then added a small diced onion, three cloves of garlic minced, a sizeable chunk of ginger root minced…then added that along with three strips of cooked bacon to the pot!
