Celebrating Black History Month – Through the Eyes of Art

To my delight a dear friend of mine invited me out for a night on the town to what became a rather enriching evening in the emerald city…we began catching up over drinks and a few appetizers at Triumph Bar, which is perfectly located for those attending performances at the Seattle Center.

Fellowshipping with a long time friend over some truly savory fried oysters, a mini cast iron pan overflowing with crispy potatoes that came with a side of truffle aioli, two cheeses that were selected by the chef and we paired it with a couple of glasses of red & a few sips of their Gold Rush (consisting of Bourbon, honey & lemon); which is akin to a hot toddy.

After swapping stories about our recent adventures we then made our way over to the EMP, so that we could be wrapped up in the love that was overflowing at this key event taking place that peeked our interest.

Along the way we were greeted by this iconic sparkling tower of lights…the Seattle Space Needle.

Once inside, the festivities greeted us like the warmth you encounter upon returning home for the holidays…

After marveling at the many works on display by some of the areas own acclaimed artist, we found ourselves enraptured by what was next in store…

We then shared in praising those who are doing amazing works within the community.

Next, we were treated with a panel discussion on the importance of Black love from couples whom have been married for over a decade or two in some beautiful instances…

Co-host BET comic Isiah Anderson gave these couples a run for their money when posing some rather interesting questions, in order to get a better understanding of how they have endured the test of time in their relationships.

All in all, I must say that I rather enjoyed the event and I’m looking forward to my next art inspired adventure.
